Michael Feinstein

          + n

Raised in Ohio by parents used to performing, Feinstein developed a precocious talent for playing the piano by ear and an equally sophisticated taste in music, collecting discs by Jolson, Crosby and Fred Astaire.

In his twenties, Feinstein was introduced to an ageing and increasingly frail Ira Gershwin, eagerly helping the lyricist catalogue his work and avidly listening to his stories from a glittering past.

Nowadays Feinstein is renowned as an artist in his own right, regularly playing the major cabaret venues, performing sell-out concerts and having recorded over a dozen albums. He also has his own cabaret venue Feinstein's at The Regency in New York City
