The purpose of the site is to promote a wider appreciation of the work of singers currently working in the 'cabaret' genre of singing. For the purposes of this site this means singers who perform in small /intimate venues where the main purpose of the show is communication with the audience. The songs featured could range from standards from the 'Great American Songbook' to work currently being written by contemporary songwriters. We recognise  there are many other legitimate definitions of cabaret performances.

How are the Singers who are featured on the site selected?

Singers might be selected because they have established reputations in the field, because they are up and coming new talents, or because they contact us asking to be featured.

Why are so many of the singers American?

Partly because the American cabaret scene is the most active and lively and because our attempts to encourage interest from British artists have met a very muted response.

Who can I book a singer for an engagement?

You will need to contact the singers themselves and or their representatives /agents. We do not act as agents fro any of the singers featured.

How can I contact the singers featured on the site?

Many have their own web sites - links can be found at the bottom of their page and also on our Links Page

Why isn't the site updated more often?

We would like to have updated the site more often. Extraordinary circumstances has meant the site hasn't been updated as often as we would have liked. We hope that in future the site will be updated on a regular basis. if you would like to be informed when the site is updated send your email details to list@swia.demon.co.uk

Why can't I hear what the singers sound like?

The inclusion of music on web sites is a controversial topic. We do not include samples of the singers performing as this might infringe not only their copyright but also the copyright of the songwriters.

How can I appear on the site?

If you are a singer and would like to be featured on the site send your request to cabaret@swia.demon.co.uk. We will then send you details of what you need to submit for inclusion.

How much does it cost to be featured on the site?

Nothing at all. A fee isn't charged for inclusion on the site. Neither can space be purchased.
