Karen Akers reputation as an international singer is well-founded given her upbringing and residence in may different locales. Akers’ original aim was to be a folk singer, with a yearning for protest song, but as she points out her life took some different turns. These turns have led her not only to appearances at prestigious cabaret rooms but also to the Broadway stage. It would appear that Akers’ aim is to not only keep the great American songbook alive and well but also the songbook of any other country where she has connections. Performances include: Theatre: Grand Hotel Cabaret: Rainbow and Stars - NYC, The Oak Room - NYC; Pizza on the Park - London Recordings include: Live—From Rainbow & Stars Under Paris Skies In A Very Unusual Way
What The Critics Say: “...singing that found a perfect balance between cultivated chic and heartfelt expression” Stephen Holden, The New York Times
